In fact, Laughlin is the third most visited resort destination in Nevada, only falling short to Las Vegas and Reno. Laughlin is a more family friendly city because it offers many outdoor and family activities. Visitors can enjoy the Colorado River, shopping, gaming, and other outdoor activities.
The Colorado River runs along the city of Laughlin and the river provides many recreational activities for the city’s visitors. The river’s water activities include fishing, water and jet skiing, boating, and revitalizing swims in the cool water. Visitors are welcome to bring their own equipment or they can take advantage of the watercraft rental facilities. Tour boats and steamship replicas are available for dinner cruises and scenic rides, while the history of the city is playing during the ride. If visitors would like to enjoy the Colorado River without getting in it, they can take a leisurely walk along Laughlin’s River Walk. During this relaxing walk, visitors can enjoy the different varieties of fish and birds that gather along the shore.
Big Bend State Recreation Area, which is located within the town limits of Laughlin, is on the shores of the Colorado River. Opening in 1996, it is the newest state park in Nevada. In addition to shopping, visitors can indulge in various types of food in the food court and watch a movie at the nine-screen movie theater. A variety of stores are also available in the numerous casinos in Laughlin.
The city started with just one casino in the 1960′s, but the city has grown to have over eight casinos.
