How To Make Sure You Find The Best Holiday Travel Deals

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

In today’s world, it seems that almost any topic is open for debate. While I was gathering facts for this article, I was quite surprised to find some of the issues I thought were settled are actually still being openly discussed.
You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about the best holiday travel deals. But don’t be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.
The internet gives us access to just about anything we can imagine. This includes finding flights, trains, buses, hotel rooms, and rental cars that we can use to travel for the holidays. While most of these entities are more expensive when you travel over the holidays due the demand, you can still find some good deals if you take the time to look.
You will generally find that you can save the most money on holiday travel if you purchase a complete package deal. This is less expensive than buying each piece that you need individually. It also provides you with only one confirmation number that you need to keep track of instead of several different ones.
There are literally hundreds of sites online where you can look for holiday travel deals. You can search by your destination in a search engine or choose the various sites you have heard about. It is a good idea to keep a list of the sites you visit and the prices you are coming across. This way you can compare the prices and easily remember where you want to go back to.
Most of the time fares will be cheaper online than by contacting the place directly because it saves their business time of having to set up the travel arrangements for you. Make sure you carefully read all of the information though because some travel deals have hidden costs that you don’t want to be liable for. You also need to check into the cancellation policies and about rescheduling your trip.
Some online travel deals don’t offer any refunds at all so if a family member dies or you have an unexpected illness you won’t be able to get your money back. Even if you show up late for your flight because you got caught up at security they won’t honor your purchase. This can be extremely risky because there are too many variables that can affect holiday travel.
Make sure you also pay close attention to the amount of time that you will be in the process of getting to your destination. You may find a killer price but it isn’t going to be worth it if you have several connecting flights and layovers along the way. Look for direct methods to get to your destination whenever it is possible. There are simply too many delays during holiday travel to ensure you can get to those connections on time.
Many of the sites you visit online will allow you to sign up for special offers and promotions. You should take advantage of these offers so that you don’t have to continually return to their site to check for changes in prices. Some of them even allow you to enter a price so that you can be notified if the price of the trip you want drops to that price. For those that can only afford holiday travel if it fits a specific budget, this is a valuable feature.
During your search online for holiday travel, be flexible with your dates. You will be able to save hundreds of dollars just by being willing to leave a day earlier or leaving in the evening instead of the afternoon. Those that want a specific travel arrangement will find this ties them into more expensive offers. Even if you travel a day earlier and have to pay for a hotel room that extra night you could save hundreds of dollars.
It does take some initial planning of where you want to travel and how you are going to get there in order to find the best travel deals. Investing a few hours of your time in getting the best price though is well worth the savings you will get from it. Millions of people travel each year over the holidays but some of them pay more for the same trip because they didn’t look for holiday travel deals online.
That’s how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.

Family Friendly Holiday Destinations

Friday, November 5th, 2010

All family members want to have fun on their holiday, finding a destination that suits your family can be a little tricky if you have children of different ages. There are many options so that everyone can have a great fun time.

Here are a few suggestions that may suit your family

For a Relaxing Holiday

Go camping in a tent or RV, for a long weekend close by or travel further and explore your state or go interstate.

Stay in a cabin at a Caravan Park or Holiday Park. Make sure it’s a family friendly park with many activities to keep you all busy. Some Parks have kids clubs and scheduled activities for the whole family.

The beach is always a winner, especially if you don’t live near the beach. That makes it all the more special. All ages can enjoy the waves, the sand, reading a book, checking out the rock pools and the view. Accommodation may have to be booked well ahead as the beach is a very popular destination.

Animals are always popular there are many, zoos, wildlife parks, aquariums etc all over Australia.

Try an Adventure Holiday

If you don’t normally go camping consider hiring a campervan or camper trailer. Have an adventure and discover new places, travel your state or territory or go interstate.

Go on an organised tour that includes the adventure activities you are interested in eg. rock climbing, scuba diving, cycling, hiking, rafting etc.

Experience the City or Country Holiday

If you live in the country you make choose to stay in a motel in your nearest city within walking distance of the cities attractions. Be amazed by the shopping, cafes, attractions.

If you live in the city stay in a country town or in farm stay accommodation, Enjoy the fresh air and country landscapes and everything else country living has to offer.

Have a Blast at Fun and Theme Parks

Everyone loves fun and theme parks, they are very family friendly. The most popular are at the Gold coast QLD these are Warner Bros Movie World, Sea World, Wet’n'Wild Water World and Dreamworld. My family visited these parks in 2002, they are an incredible experience, so much to see, enjoy. Totally Family Friendly – Something For Everyone!

How Do You Know If A Holiday Park Or Campground Is Family Friendly?

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

If a Holiday Park or Campground is genuinely family friendly they will promote it in their brochures or website info. A few other signs to look for are these things listed, If you find three or more then it most likely will be suitable for family camping and set up for fun.

A big plus with family friendly Parks is that there is lots of company for your kids and parents get to meet some other parents too.

Occasionally long term friendships are created when camping, this happened with my family when we camped at Ayers Rock Campground in 2000. The kids started playing cricket together then the parents met, we come from Victoria and the family we met was from Sydney. We just happened to be going the same way, so we travelled for another 10 days together and went to Kings Canyon, Palm Valley and Alice Springs and parted at Three Ways Roadhouse. Ever since then we have met every year and had some amazing travels together including The Kimberley, Fraser Island several times, Eastern Central Australia in 2008 and more.
